Oxygen for ethanol oxidation is supplied through breathing, the stomach, and the
skin. There is a great deal of genetic and environmental variability in the
pharmacokinetics of alcohol absorption, distribution, metabolism, and
elimination. A new study has found that increasing dissolved oxygen
concentrations in alcohol may help to reduce alcohol-related side effects and
accidents.

HTML clipboard

ASO® Activated Oxygen in Water:
Will it increase Pa02 During Strenuous Activity at Altitude?

The amount of oxygen that can be bound to hemoglobin is reduced by
hypoxia. This reduced oxygen delivery capacity is believed to be the major
limiting factor in aerobic performance at altitude. From 2 to 5% oxygen can be
dissolved in the plasma. This dissolved oxygen can supplement the primary route
of oxygen delivery to the cells, the red blood cells via hemoglobin.
Theoretically, if the amount of dissolved oxygen in the plasma could be
increased, this might augment the oxygen being delivered from hemoglobin.

The dietary supplement, Activated Oxygen (ASO®), is based upon dissolved
molecular oxygen rather than a salts of oxygen formulation. The amount of
dissolved oxygen in water is usually small (7-20 p.p.m.). Nevertheless, water is
capable of holding a certain amount of dissolved molecular oxygen in solution.

Activated Oxygen (ASO®) is a colorless, non-toxic, hypoallergenic, mineral
rich dietary supplement. It is safe to use as a dietary supplement. Preliminary
results with 3 test subjects (Suntory) indicated that the BI02 product caused a
rise in PaO2 for 90-120 minutes followed by a gradual drop to baseline levels.
This research was not done at altitude.

A second study was conducted using 36 U.S. Marines undergoing moderate
altitude field training at the U.S. Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training
Center (MCMWTC), Bridgeport CA in cooperation with the Naval Health Research
Center, San Diego, CA that maintains a field laboratory at that site. Tests
indicated a slight increase in PaO2 levels. However, it was determined that
there was not close monitoring of consumption that may have skewed the research.

WHAT IS ACTIVATED OR “STABILIZED” OXYGEN?
The current literature explains that dietary supplements (nutritional products) featuring oxygen can contain either dissolved molecules of oxygen, (in various molecular configurations including O1, O2, O3, O4, etc.) and/or bio-available oxygen molecules electrically bound to numerous non-toxic salts. (These salts include magnesium, potassium, sodium, etc.) The important distinction between these supplements is that these different compounds must be comprised of oxygen-salt molecular bonds that are easily weakened by the body.

No other activated (stabilized) oxygen supplement has undergone as much scrutiny. Here is what the professionals have written about ASO®:

ASO® stabilized oxygen is undoubtedly a new powerful tool in the modern world of medicine. The more we get to know about it, the more we can treat without side effects. ASO® is a tool, a key to a noble dream for a better world, better life quality and life itself. ASO® works as a strong antiseptic on the wound, killing anaerobic and fungal microorganisms. ASO® increases the healing process. ASO® was effective in dilutions and in the oral treatment of Stomatitis Aphthosa in the mouth and gums. ASO® was effective as a topical treatment against Oral Cardidiasis and tongue’s fungal plaques. ASO® was effective on degenerative lip dermatitis and Angulus Infectiosus in mouth angles. ASO® was effective on eczematic areas as a moisturizing and skin repair agent.
Dr. Marios L. Christofinis, M.D., Ph.D.

The medical community is beginning to rediscover how important oxygen is to our bodily functions. Research has indicated a link between oxygen and most diseases of the human body. You can go days without food, hours without water, but if you are denied Oxygen for only a few minutes you can’t survive.

New M.I.T. Research JULY 17, 2002

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- In results that counter the idea that oxygen free radicals cause aging, an MIT researcher reports in the July 18 issue of Nature that calorie restriction prolongs life because it increases respiration, not because it decreases oxygen free radicals.

MIT biologist Leonard Guarente believes "the conventional wisdom on oxygen radicals is dead wrong. Our results (in yeast) are contrary to the frequent suggestion that calorie restriction functions by slowing metabolism and thereby slowing the generation of free radicals."

Guarente, who is working on a book on aging to be published this fall, discovered in 2000 that calorie restriction activates the silenced information regulator (SIR2) gene, which has the apparent ability to slow aging. This gene makes a protein called Sir2, which Guarente has shown is integrally tied to extending life span in yeast and in the roundworm. Humans carry a similar gene.

Chemists have long recognized water as a substance having unusual and unique properties that one would not at first sight expect from a small molecule having the formula H2O. It is generally agreed that the special properties of water stem from the tendency of its molecules to associate, forming short-lived and ever-changing polymeric units that are sometimes described as "clusters". These clusters are more conceptual than physical in nature; they have no directly observable properties, and their transient existence (on the order of picoseconds) does not support an earlier view that water is a mixture of polymers (H2O)n in which n can have a variety of values. Instead, the currently favored model of water is one of a loosely connected network that might best be described as one huge "cluster" whose internal connections are continually undergoing rearrangement.
